Is h giving to the bit if so then yeah you can train any horse to do dressagesome just take a little longer to train it is very benificial for all disciplines but i would recomend getting a dressage trainer because there is a certain way your horse has to move to do dressage they have to move from the back end and keep their shoulders up and stay collected through the whole test its tough to train them so it’s nice to have someone watch you that knows what they are doing so they can tellyou if you ae doing it right and what to fix

This was a gift from “Santa” to my daughter and I was surprised with the quality when we opened it. The fence type pieces are extremely rough and not well painted. Breyer horses are, overall, good quality but their accessories tend to be on the cheaper quality side. I hope it will last because she really wanted this and will be so upset if it breaks.
This dressage arena was a really great idea and came with a booklet that showed you how to assemble it, but the pieces were flimsy and did not fit in the wooden letters properly. Once you got it into position it was ok but most of the time it was like walking on eggshells.
For my $1.99 I was given a brief list of what is in the book.

We used to have a Peruvian. Really lovely to ride! Very cool that you are doing dressage.
Oh my gosh I want him!! Peruvians are my favourite type of horse.
They are so graceful and entrancing in their gaits.

i have a 6 yr old that i am working on the same thing with. Im just doing alot of work on my transitions, lots of different size circles and serpentines to help him be supple and get him off the forehand. I work on bending and rounding him. I got a few low level dressage tests from a friend and practice them just for fun.

As well as responsiveness to your aids it pays to start thinking about rythmn and straightness at the basic levels too.
Working over rough grass, or out on a hack is as good as in the arena and you can start to count the rythmn of the gait, or sing a song to yourself (if you can keep a beat!) Your horse should maintain rythmn through changes of direction/circles etc and you can start to introduce shortening and lengthening of the stride too. Also during turns on the forehand, rein back etc. Putting a small bell (or neckband of bells) on your horse is fun and he will pick up the rythmn too.
Straightness is about how your horse flows through his body, how much support he needs through turns and is the training route to true balance. Imagine you are riding down a corridor formed by your legs and your hands with your focus ten steps ahead on the track and let your horse’s energy flow along under you through the corridor.
Try not to get stuck riding the same Test patterns but practice exercises individually and make up your own tests. Remember to work in a variety of places arena, field and out on a hack (you can leg yield across a path for instance) and inbetween training remember to have fun!
